On the 23th of August it was finally time for Straf_Werk Festival! This is a festival with electronic and deep house kind of music. Last year I really wanted to go to this festival but I didn’t get to buy a ticket in time, so this year I took my chance and bought an early bird ticket with a friend! Here you’ll see how we wandered around, took photos, danced at the different stages and just enjoyed the great music.
The morning of the festival the clouds decided to sprinkle some water all over The Netherlands. So when we got there, there was lots of mud… But I came prepared, I found some old shoes and I am so glad I didn’t wear my new ones because I wouldn’t be so happy at the end of the festival… As the day progressed, the sun came out and it wasn’t as cold anymore, which made it a lot better. My festival outfit consisted of my new striped Brandy Melville top, a pair of dark grey Vila jeans, my really old black Vans and a random leather jacket.
There were four stages this year. Three big ones and a small one. The small stage was located in such a cute spot. There was some art hanging on the fences and they created a space with some hammocks and an old bus with some pillows where you could just sit and relax for a minute. At the next stage artist like Homework played their music and sets. They had created such amazing stages. One was made out of wood and had a spinning object at the top. Another one called “Space” was made out of strange objects like water tanks and a lot of gold and silver paper, which made it look like space (yes, surprise right?).
Everybody knows (well if you’ve been to a festival before) that you can’t pay with money but you have to buy special coins so you can buy drinks and food. Mostly festivals do this because they can sell things for a lot more money (and because they don’t have to have so much change on them). So when I know I am going to a festival, I always save up some money I can spend at the festival. Here we bought a pizza from WOOD for lunch. These were freshly made pizzas and they tasted really good. With that we got a drink and as the day progressed we also got a waffle from one of the stands and some other drinks.
As you may be able to tell, I had a great day and I think I will definitely attend Straf_Werk again next year! I hope the photos give you an idea of what it looked like. Oh, and if you don’t know what to bring to a festival, check my festival essentials! Did you attend any festivals this summer? What’s your favorite part of a festival?
