Let’s Get Cozy With A Comfy Sweater And A Cup Of Tea | Fall Inspired DIY

I don’t know about you but when fall peaks around the corner, I just love to make myself a good cup of tea. I’ve been seeing so many cute mug designs on Tumblr and Weheartit but I could never find them online. And when I did, they were so expensive. So I decided to look on the Internet how I could make my own and it turns out that it’s very easy to do. Here are the designs I created on my fall inspired mugs!

I decided to create three different designs on my mugs. On the first one I wanted to create a fall checklist. The first thing I did was, I wrote the words on the mug with a normal marker. This way I would know how big I could write the words. The words I wrote on the mug are: Sleep ins, Messy hair, Hugs, Music and Candles. These are the things that make it really feel like fall for me. After I decided how big I was going to write the words, I wiped the normal marker off and started to write the checklist with my waterproof marker. I used a thin one so it wouldn’t fill up the whole mug after writing two words.

After I was satisfied with the result (I found out you could still remove the ‘waterproof’ marker from the mug with some rubbing), I put the mug in the oven. And no, you don’t need to pre heat your oven because you want the marker to ‘bake’ with the mug. So you just put the mug in an oven on 180 °C and let it sit it there for about 30 minutes.

After that, I left mine in the oven for another 30 minutes to cool down. When it was completely cooled down, I washed the mug with some cold water and voilà! Your customized mug is done!

I also did two other designs on the other mugs I bought. One was inspired by Miss Poppy Designs. A couple of weeks ago I found her mugs on the internet and I fell in love. But unfortunately they don’t deliver her mugs in The Netherlands so I came up with my own design after I fell in love with hers. I wrote: London, Paris & New York City and after that I decided to add a little skyline on the bottom of the mug. I am so pleased with how it turned out (I think it’s my favorite out of the three)!

And the last design is inspired by a mug I saw on Tumblr from Urban Outfitters. I love their mugs but this one isn’t for sale any more so here’s my spin on that mug design. I just drew a little tea bag and wrote: My cap of tea. My mom loved it a lot so I gave this one to her. Btw, the designs are going to fade so I would recommend washing the mugs by hand so it doesn’t fade as quick.

I really like how they all turned out and how easy it was to make these. I think I will definitely enjoy some lovely tea out of these mugs, while watching one of my favorite series (at the moment): The Originals. If you don’t know this series, please check it out because it’s really good! I am curious… Which mug design is your favorite? And what would your design look like?

  1. I love the “my cup of tea” mug most but I love all of these! Mine would be tea themed as well. Possibly writing all different types of tea in different styles and different sizes and just covering the mug in that? Or London or Chicago themed. Similar to your New York one. Regardless, these are lovely!

  2. These are SOOOO cute!!! I always see tutorials for mugs like these but I’ve never tried it… not sure why. It would be really cute to have a few that have cute messages for guests, for whenever someone stops over for a cup of tea!

  3. Super leuk dit! Ik zit al twee dagen op de bank met een grote kop warme chocomelk en slagroom :). Heerlijk!
