You Can Never Have Too Many Decorative Cushions | Interior DIY

Lately I’ve been seeing so much cute interior stuff I would like to have in my bedroom, like: chairs, rugs, cabinets, cushions and other little decorative things. But I just don’t have the space and money for  all of those things. The only exception are cushions, because you can never have too many decorative cushions (just like the title says). So when I saw this DIY I just had to try and share it, so here you go!

The things you’ll need for this DIY are: A cushion with a white cover, silver (or a different color of your choice) sequin band (I used about 4 meters), a piece of cardboard, textile glue (or a hot glue gun), scissors and a pencil.

First you have to think of something you want to put on the cushion. It could be a cute design you’ve seen or one of your favorite quotes. I chose this quote: She believed she could, so she did. I found this on Weheartit, one of my loves.

After I decided what I wanted to put on the cushion, I searched on the Internet to see what kind of designs there were with this quote. When I found one I really liked, I first started to sketch the design on a piece of paper to see if it would fit the cushion and if the letters looked how I wanted them to.

Now it’s time to lightly sketch your design or quote on your cushion cover. This way you have a guideline of how to glue the sequin band on the cover. For my quote I got silver sequin band just because it goes really well with my room theme (that’s very important, you know).

And this is the last and, to be honest, also the most time-consuming step. Now it’s time to glue on the sequin band. I first put some glue on the guidelines I sketched on my cushion cover and after that I glued the sequin band on there. Before you start to glue the sequin band on, put the piece of cardboard inside your cushion cover (just to be sure that the glue doesn’t leak through).

Here’s a little tip: When you create the letters of your sequin band, you have to cut the end of your letter a bit longer than you eventually want it to be. This is important because this way you can see where you want your letter to end and glue that part on the cushion cover. And when the glue has dried, you can cut the access of the sequin band off. After you’ve done all of the letters of your quote or design, you’re done!

And this is the end result! I am very pleased with how it turned out. It goes really well with all the other decorative cushions I have on my bed. In the future I am definitely going to try this DIY again with another quote or a really fun design! What do you think about this DIY? Are you going to try this as well? And do you also like a lot of decorative cushions on your bed?

  1. WAUW! Dit is zo’n gaaf idee! Het ziet (ik zeg zien, niet dat het makkelijk is om te doen, dat zal wel weer tegenvallen ;) er ook best easypeasy uit!
