Yeah it’s finally time for the first Sunday blog post on here! Since I came back from our trip to America on Thursday, the post holiday blues are definitely starting to kick in. Since I have a summer job, I do have something to keep me busy. But if you have a lot of spare time after your holiday, the post holiday blues will definitely get to you. I just made a list of things that will definitely prevent you from suffering these post holiday blues!
The first thing you can do is explore a city in your country you haven’t been to. This is something I would love to more often because a country has so much more to offer than just the city you live in. Like I discussed in my summer resolutions I would love to explore more cities in The Netherlands. On holiday you would also explore a new city and this way it’s cheaper and maybe even more fun because you can do it with all of your friends.
If I have a day off from work, you will definitely see me somewhere having lunch with my friends. Going on lunch dates is something I do often because it’s a great way to catch up. In summer it’s even more fun because you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. If you’re not really the type to go out for lunch, you could also just have drinks in the afternoon.
Next you can organize a picnic or barbecue for some of your friends. The great thing about this is that you don’t have to make or do everything because everyone could bring something. I think wraps with garlic butter, lettuce and slices of chicken breast on it are great to have at a picnic. For a drink you could make some fruit infused water like I did in this blog post.
A barbecue wouldn’t be complete without some hamburgers, so when you have some tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, different kind of sauces and cheese, everybody can create their own hamburger. But what to have for dessert? I saw this photo on Weheartit a while ago and I think it’s the perfect dessert to have in the summer! You’ll only need three things: a watermelon, sticks and a freezer. Could it be easier? I don’t think so haha.
But what about the music? A picnic or barbecue isn’t complete without some music. With a phone accessoire like a bluetooth speaker anyone can put on some music and make your picnic or barbecue complete! I got this very cute mint colored bluetooth speaker from GSMpunt, where they sell all kinds of phone accessories like phone cases, cables and speakers. The sound that comes out of this small bluetooth speaker from Nude Audio is so good. Since it’s such a small speaker, it’s really easy to take with you anywhere you go. The battery will last about eight hours so you’ll definitely have enough time to blast all of your favorite songs.
If you love photography like me, this next thing to do is especially fun for you. There are beautiful things to photograph everywhere. Sometimes I am cycling and I just want to stop and take a photo. So why not grab your bike (or just walk around your neighborhood) and just ride around until you see something you would like to photograph? I guarantee you will take lots of beautiful photos. And if you own a polaroid camera like me, you could also experiment with that!
What to do with all of the photos you’ve taken? One thing you can do is create a scrapbook! A couple of weeks ago I finally started creating a scrapbook and I’ve been loving it. I’ve put a lot of photos in it from trips I went on this year and now that I’ve came back from America, I can add a lot more! If you would like to display your photos in your room, I have this very easy Tumblr inspired DIY for you. I made this last year and it’s still in my room!
These are five things you can do to prevent you from having the post holiday blues (I will definitely be doing some of these things since they are also on my summer resolutions list). Right now I have a bit of a jet lag, which sucks. The real world begins again tomorrow for me so this weekend I relaxed and thought about all the amazing things I did and saw while being on holiday. Which of these things will you be doing this summer break? Did you ever experience the post holiday blues?
