Lost In Hortus Botanicus | Outfit

“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all.” Since I don’t want my life to be nothing, I go on adventure sometimes. I try to do things I haven’t done before. Well, this time I went to Hortus Botanicus in Leiden. I have been here when I was a little kid but since that’s years ago, it has changed a lot. So that’s why Lotte (my very own photographer haha) and I went there to try something new for an outfit post. Let’s see how it turned out…

First I will tell something about our day at Hortus Botanicus. A couple of months ago I was thinking about what kind of hotspots in Leiden I could share with you. While I did a lot of thinking, suddenly Hortus Botanicus popped in to my mind. When I asked Lotte if we could take some photos again, she suggested we would go there to change things up a little bit. In Hortus Botanicus Leiden are different greenhouses with tropical flowers, plants and cacti (my fave)! It costs only a couple of euros to enter and I guarantee you will have a lovely but also relaxed day.

Quote Shirt: American Eagle € 19,95 | Cross-Over Bag: Pieces € 29,95

The first thing I am wearing in this outfit is this shirt from American Eagle. If you’ve read my Latest Purchases, you might have seen it already. I am kind of a sucker for shirts with nice quotes or sayings on it and that’s the case with this shirt as well. I saw this on one of the mannequins and after seeing the whole store, I finally found it. It’s the perfect souvenir from New York.

I can never leave the house without a bag (is it just me?). But when it’s summer, I don’t feel like taking my favorite bag ever, also known as my Cowboysbag, so I have two other options. One: taking a canvas bag or two: taking my only cross-over bag. This time I grabbed my cross-over bag because I felt like it.

Army Green Jeans: ONLY € 14,95 | Gladiator Sandals: Van Haren € 19,90

In most of my outfit posts I just wear a simple pair of jeans (because I love them) but this time I wanted to change it up a little bit. A couple of weeks ago I saw this pair of army green jeans in the sale, so I thought: why don’t I try these? I am such a dare devil, I know haha.

To stay in the nature atmosphere, I am wearing these gladiator sandals. These are like three years old but for some reason I always grab them when the weather gets better during the summer. They are so simple and go with every single outfit. Casual outfits but also a bit more dressy outfits. I think everybody should have a pair like these in their closet.

Butterfly Bracelet: Heart To Get € 39,95 | Erika Sunglasses: Ray Ban € 106,00

On to the exciting part of this outfit. Every summer I get a new pair of cheap sunglasses from Primark or H&M but this summer I have a different pair. While I was on holiday I got a message from Sunglasses Shop if I would like to receive a pair of sunglasses. Well, since I still needed a new pair, of course I did. I ended up getting the Erika sunglasses in tortoise. This style sunglasses fit my face the best and I love them so much. I would wear them all day every day if I could haha.

The rest of my accessoires are really simple. I am just wearing my everyday earrings, necklace and I decided to wear my butterfly bracelet. Ever since I was little I had this thing with butterflies (I also talked about it in this post) so this bracelet is perfect.

I think I will definitely visit Hortus Botanicus Leiden more in the future because it is the perfect place to take some beautiful photos. All of the outfit photos turned out really nice and look summery! Mmm and now I have to decide what my favorite item of this outfit is… I guess it has to be my sunglasses. I’ve been wearing them so much and they look good on everybody (yes a lot of people have been trying them on haha). Have you ever been to a place like Hortus Botanicus Leiden? What is your favorite item of this outfit?

Love,

Neeltje

  1. I seriously wish there was a place like that here! I’m in love with the giant lily pads! They remind me of Thailand so much. It’s cool how your outfit matches the occasion too!
