No Matter How Long Winter Lasts, Spring Is Sure To Follow | Winter Through My Lens

Last November I decided to start another series on here. At the end of every season I want to give you a little summary of what I did during that season. The first blog post in this series was about fall. In this case you’ll read and see what I did during winter. It includes lots of exciting things from Christmas (which seems like so long ago), a change I made to my hair and maybe I booked some trips for this summer… Let’s get started!

First I wanted to share the change I made to my hair. Before Christmas I thought my hair was getting annoying and that’s a sign I need to change something. In 2014 I cut my hair pretty short, I felt like doing that again so that’s exactly what I did. At first I wasn’t really sure about going really short but when she started cutting it, I actually liked it how it looked short. You might have already read about this in my Loves Lately post (where you can also see it).

Before Christmas break I had a really relaxed week. I was looking through some gift cards I had and that’s when I found one from SOAP Treatment Store. I totally forgot I had that one so I contacted Elba and we made an appointment to go there. We both got our nails done for the first time. I hadn’t painted my nails for a really long time (because I hated the feel of it at one point) but in the end I did really enjoy the experience. It so relaxing to have your nails done, especially at SOAP Treatment Store in The Hague. 💆

The thing I mostly get excited about during winter is Christmas (and also my birthday). My friends and I celebrated ‘Sinterklaas’ at the beginning of December. In the photo below you can see some of the presents I received (how cute are they!). Besides that I also baked these amazing Christmas cupcakes and cookies (which were absolutely delicious). And of course I also celebrated Christmas with my family. We always have so many gifts for everyone underneath the tree and it’s a great day to catch up with everyone (and have some amazing food as well).

During my Christmas break I had to spend a lot of time studying but I also made time for fun things. I worked a lot on my blog and started planning for the month of January and a bit of February because the next couple of weeks would be very busy with exams and finishing projects. One of the things I did during my Christmas break for Thoughts in Style was making this decorative cushions do it yourself. I had so much fun making this DIY with Eline and the cushions turned out lovely. If you want to know how I made them, click here✂️

After I had all of my exams, I had lunch or went out for dinner a couple of times. I think this is a great way to catch up with friends and family. One of the places I had lunch at was Lot & de Walvis. I mentioned this as one of my favorite hotspots in my Loves Lately blog post. In an upcoming blog post you’ll read so much more about this hotspot and here’s a preview of what I may have eaten there…

Besides catching up with friends, I also may have booked two very exciting trips with my friends! Are you ready to hear where I will be this summer? Drum roll please… I will be going to Athens and London in July! At the beginning of July I will be going to Athens with Anouk, Maja and Isabella (we went to Barcelona last year). We didn’t really know where we wanted to go. The only thing we wanted was sun and things to do/see. We looked at a couple of cities and ended up going for Athens in Greece! And at the end of July, I will be going to London with Eline. We’ve been talking about going there for such a long time and now we’ve finally booked our trip. I am so excited for both of these trips and as you can already guess, you’ll get lots of traveling posts on here ✈️

During January I also started a new adventure. For school I have to do a five month internship, just like last year but this time it’s five days a week for five months. The first couple of weeks I really had to get used to it because it starts at 8 AM… But now (after almost two months) I have gotten used to it and it’s much easier to get up early (coming from a not morning person haha). I’ve already learnt and experienced so much (and got to see so many beautiful bags, like the one above) and I am looking forward to the next couple of months!

Well, this is already the end of this ‘winter through my lens’ blog post. I really enjoy collecting different kind of memories for this blog post so I’ll definitely be doing more of these. Especially the one from summer will be full of trips, adventures and more. What do you think of these type of blog posts? What is your favorite memory from winter?

Love,

Neeltje
