Spring isn’t really over yet, but when June starts, Summer already kind of starts for me. I don’t know if I am the only one but that’s kind of the case. That’s why here’s already another “… Through My Lens” blog post! This one contains some fun outings I’ve had over the past couple of months, a blog celebration and a little heart to heart. So as you can tell, this post will be all over the place because it’s also kind of an update on what’s going on (no, it’s nothing crazy but I just wanted to get something of my chest☺️).
I have to say, last year Spring let us all down a little (well, at least in The Netherlands). The weather was terrible and this year it started all over the place but ended up being really sunny and warm. I definitely took advantage of the days when the weather was really nice. On the weekends I mostly spent some time with my friends and family. If you were looking for me those days, you could find me enjoying the sun outside of a restaurant or cafe. One day Elba and I went to Aan de Rijn in Leiden. We had never been there but what you want to have for lunch or dinner is completely up to you. They have a menu with lots of different small dishes so you can have lots of different things to eat. This is great for me since I can’t decide or get what I usually get. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Leiden! Also, Justin Timerlake dropped a new track and I am loving it at the moment. If you haven’t heard it yet, you can find it here.
Most of the time I just take the bus and train to my internship but for three weeks a road got closed which meant I couldn’t get to my internship by bus. Pretty annoying but it was also very nice because almost every afternoon my grandma would get me from my internship and I would have dinner with her. One afternoon we decided to go to this gardening centre nearby my internship and I got so many little cacti. You may have seen those as well in this DIY! 🌵
On Easter there was The Original Market in Leiden. Since it finally stopped raining, my family and I decided to cycle there and wander around the market. At this market lots of different people sell things they make themselves, which I love, as you might know. I didn’t end up buying anything but I will definitely stroll around The Original Market again. Oh, and I also went to the IJ-Hallen in Amsterdam with Eline! I am not going to tell you too much about this because you’ll read all about it in next weeks blog post!
It was actually Thoughts in Style’s blog birthday on April 9th! I have to be honest, I kind of forgot about it… But when I got contacted by Fotofabriek a couple of weeks ago with the question if I would like to try to make my own photo book, I thought: “Why not? This would be perfect to celebrate Thoughts in Style’s second birthday!”. So that’s exactly what I did. I took some photos from my favorite blog posts I’ve posted on here and put them in the photo book. With Fotofabriek you have to download this software on your computer and then you can start to create your photo book. When I was finished I got it in the mail a couple of days later and had little late celebration with a piece of my millionaire’s shortbread 🎉 Now I can look back on the last two years whenever I like with this photo book. Thanks Fotofabriek!
Throughout the months the weather kept getting a little better, which meant: taking outfit photos again! In the photos I took with Lotte it might look like the weather was nice but it was all over the place. At first it was raining and the sun would come out again, weird right?
I also got an unexpected but exciting present in April. At the end of April it was my moms birthday and something she really wanted was a new bicycle. So on her birthday we went to get a new bicycle and I also ended up with a new bicycle! My old one made such a loud noise. People could hear me coming from like 500 meters away so yeah, I was kind of in need of a new bicycle. In the photo below you can kind of see it and check out the rose gold detailing inside of the tires. Awesome right? 🏍 🚲
While I was writing this post, I realized I wanted to have a little heart to heart with you. In this post you mostly read about all of the fun things I did on the weekends because I always want to share positive and happy thing on here. But in real life I’ve also been doing a five day a week internship for about twenty weeks now. This means I hardly ever have time to work on my blog and that sucks. Don’t get me wrong, I love doing an internship because I’ve learned so much over the past twenty weeks but it takes a lot of out of you. Every night I go to bed around 9 P.M. and every morning at 5:30 A.M. my alarm goes off. This made me realize that I am getting excited about going to school (follow classes) again in September. At the end of April I had to choose two minors, which I will be doing in the first semester, and I am still very happy with my choice because I got into Social media & business and Photography. Hopefully when school starts I will have more time to blog for you guys (maybe post more than just once a week?) and do good in school at the same time. I already have lots of fun ideas for upcoming blog posts and of course I will be sharing all about the trips I will be taking in July! I didn’t think this would be such a long post but it feels good to have shared this with you guys. Anyways, did you enjoy this blog post? What’s your favorite thing you did during spring?
