There are lots of places to go to and visit in Amsterdam. You’ll find lots of different restaurants and cafes. Not only to sit down and enjoy your lunch or dinner but also to work at. At the moment I am writing this blog post from my dear bedroom but a couple of weeks ago I wanted a different scenery to work in. I thought that maybe this could help me to get some inspiration. That’s why Eline and I decided to visit one of the hotspots from my (very well known hotspots to visit) list. This time I went for a hotspot outside of the centre of Amsterdam and that’s C • T Coffee & Coconuts. Curious to see what we ate and what it looks like?

When Eline and I arrived at Amsterdam Central Station, we took tram number 16 and got out at the Albert Cuypstraat. This is the easiest way to get to C • T Coffee & Coconuts in only ten minutes. I had never been around the Albert Cuypstraat area but I definitely want to spend a day at the Albert Cuyp Market and then go to a place to have lunch, like C • T Coffee & Coconuts.
Anyways, this day Eline and I came with a plan and wanted to tackle all of the work we still had to do (and also plan lot of fun things to do in London). So when we arrived at C • T Coffee & Coconuts, I actually fell in love a little. Of course I had seen photos on the internet but when you step in, it feels like you’re in a completely different country (if you know what I mean). Since we wanted a quiet space to work in, we decided to go to the top floor.
The day we went to C • T Coffee & Coconuts it was so warm outside. It felt like I was in Washington D.C. all over again. When we were there last summer, it was like 38 °C every single day and very humid. Well, this day it was extremely humid and I felt like an ice scream that was melting. That’s why we immediately wanted to order a fresh drink. I went for the Lemon Squash and Eline got an Iced Coffee. Since New York last year, I’ve been all about the real lemonade and this really tasted like it. It’s one of the best things to drink when it’s warm outside.
Before I go out to eat (or drink) somewhere, I always check the menu to see if they have anything that catches my eye. With C • T Coffee & Coconuts I did that as well but I got a little overwhelmed with all of the different choices. You have so many different drinks to choose from and you can have (all day) breakfast, lunch and dinner there. All day breakfast is the best thing there is but we first wanted to get a little snack to get our work and planning day started.
We got something from the “Fine foods” part of the menu, the Bread Basket. The Bread Basket contains sourdough breaking bread, bread- stick and tomato focaccia, which is served with chipotlebutter, pesto and olive oil. I had never tried chipotlebutter but let me tell you, this was absolutely delicious. A Bread Basket is a must when you’re working at C • T Coffee & Coconuts.
While we were enjoying our lovely drinks and food, of course we worked on some school stuff and started planning our trip to London, but I also looked around me. This is something I like to do because I think it’s important to enjoy and take in everything that is around you. This sounds weird but this also includes people watching (guilty). Besides that I also got inspired by the interior. Like I already said before, it feels like you’re in a completely different country when you enter C • T Coffee & Coconuts. The environment is very chilled and relaxed, which makes it the best place to work in. I don’t think I could study here because it is a little noisy because there’s space for many people. In the photos below you can kind of get a better idea of what it looks like.
After finishing the Bread Basket, of course we were still hungry. While I was still enjoying my Lemon Squash, Eline already finished her Iced Coffee and decided to go for The Breaky. This is a smoothie type drink with berries, yoghurt, banana, granola and coconut. Such a healthy option. Well, I didn’t go for something like that. I felt like being daring and try something new. I got Le Croissant, which is a grilled croissant with bacon, cheese, tomato, mustard and garden chess. For me a croissant is something you always eat with jam so I thought I would try this and I loved it. I am definitely going to try to make something like this at home when I feel like eating something savery.
After a productive morning and afternoon, we had to leave C • T Coffee & Coconuts. Eline and I also wanted to explore the neighborhood around, since we had never been there so we packed up our things, payed for all the lovely foods/drinks and walked to the exit. As we were walking in, I didn’t realize there is this little shop with cookbooks and other fun things just besides the stairs. It’s all about the details, am I right? Eline and I will definitely come back here to work or just to have lunch. You can find C • T Coffee & Coconuts at Ceintuurbaan 282, 1072 LR Amsterdam. What do you think about this hotspot? Have you ever been to C • T Coffee & Coconuts?
